My dream job: Probably a graphic designer at an agency or firm rather than an in house department of a company. Or this may sound sappy, but a freelancing mom.

The Way I Am Sketches

So these sketches that could go along with the song I chose. I thought I could do it in a music video style with the title of the song and band name in the corner. There will be an illustrated story happening that follows the action described in the lyrics. During the chorus, the animation will flash back to an animation of the group singing with the lead singer out front.

two of these sketches are from spring break when I thought I was doing a flash on the history of the group.

3.15 Flash Ideas

Target Audiences:

Family of Minor Detail members
Friends of Minor Detail members
Current Truman students
Other singing groups
Clients and venues interested in performances




Animation Ideas:

1. Brief History of Group
A lone female Truman student walks along campus singing. Another student comes along and seems pleasantly surprised and sings along. More girls join and the group forms, a song has faded in and all are singing. It ends, and I’ll include a team cheer we recorded, this will signify the kickoff to enter the website.

2. Spice Up Your Event!
Could portray a meeting or event that seems to be boring. The message would be that had they invited a guest singing group such as Minor Detail to get things going, their event might have been more exciting.

3. Comparison
Could show some college students at a karaoke bar not really feeling the show. So they get the idea to go see a better show-ta da, the minor detail concert that just happens to be going on at the same time. (I think karaoke is fun and entertaining though, so I don't really know how convincing this would be.)



Possible places for animations to appear:

1. Truman promotional DVD
Truman could incorporate a free DVD in their mailed packages to prospective freshmen. The DVD would give an idea of what it’s like to be a Truman student by including footage of campus life and involvement. The various singing groups would be featured and the history clip could be worked in to attract and inform students on Minor Detail.


2. Truman Website Animation
On the Truman website the history animation could be featured. Maybe it could play more specifically on the arts area of the site, or the campus schedule link. This would advertise the group on the web to current students, faculty and staff, parents, and prospective students.

3. The Minor Detail Splash Page
As the target audience is rather narrow, it is possible to leave an animation as the splash page entering into the website.

4. Fellow singing groups’ sites
Partner singing groups at Truman and other guest schools that the group has a relationship with could feature an animation to lead to the Minor Detail Page. This would get the group’s name out beyond Truman and Kirksville, that way, when we host singing groups from other schools at events like Truman A Cappella Fest, their parents and friends have a better idea of who Minor Detail is.

5. The Kirksville or Kirksville Rocks website could feature the spice up your event animation.


Not sure where the karaoke animation could be featured.

Here is the final link to the website. After testing it in internet explorer, the enter link on the splash page still doesn't show up, and the members list is better, but still a little off - not sure how to fix those.

As of now, all the pages are in html, including all song clips and photos. I linked Paypal to the CD purchase page and the links to other a cappella groups are working. I am having trouble getting a div box to work for info for each member and will need help, for some reason I can't get it to go where I want.

Maybe we've already been taught this, but I would like the music notes to stay next to the link after clicking it to let the user know which page they are on if they happen to forget.  I'm not sure how to do this, or I don't remember?  and my scrolling button is white, not sure how to change that.

2.10 new-ness

not sure about the placement of the pictures on the side of the home page.  i tried fitting them into a base clef symbol as planned in my sketches but it was awkward looking. also not sure the photo colors are working with the overall scheme. 

i changed some coloring in the splash page to match the home page and added my first sub page-still a little foggy on which parts of this to do in html, but will figure it out!
