1.14 Which to Choose?

My starting point in our first assignment stemmed from the advice Gary gave us in class - to think in a broader sense of where we as designers will want to be when we leave Truman.  My destinations may be Ann Arbor or St. Louis, and from there I explored design firms in those areas and their clients.  I noticed a botanical gardens and museum client that would be my cup of tea.  I would like to have design a website with a mature, professional, elegant and clean look. 

In thinking back on the AIGA St. Louis trip from the fall of 2008, we toured Waylon Advertising and they did business with Klipsch speakers which was pretty sweet.  Schupp Co. does some work with an orthodontist company focusing on the fact that a smile is the first thing you see in all of our important memories and photographs which was designed very elegantly and heartfelt. 

I figure if we will be doing all of the photography for this website, I can probably handle a musical instrument company, but the spa, botanical garden, and museum idea might be a little harder depending on how soon it warms up for floral photos, etc. 

On a more local note, I could redesign the Truman Minor Detail Webpage and would have access to easy photography sessions, yet I am unsure of how professional this choice would be to a possible employer.

1. musical instrument company  - I have access to musical instruments or friends with instruments. A guitar company with a dark, smooth feel would be something I am interested in.

2. Truman State Minor Detail - Women's a cappella group that in actuality needs a new website design.

3. Tikal Association - Works to preserve the historical attributes of Guatemala such as the great Tikal ruins.  I have photos of the site that would be easily used for this choice.

4. Stop Global Warming - Works to encourage our leaders of America to mandate a cut in emissions and pollution.

5. Santa Fe Restaraunt - Family restaurant located in Edina, Missouri. Situated in a historical corner bank filled with memories for the town.  Edina is in the process of restoring their downtown area and preserving the historical memories of this small community.
